 Overview

We serve the customer’s needs with high reliability that is backed by our proud track record and the accumulation of technology. We offer the accurate advice and highly reliable technology. As GLP compliant institute we carry out Biodegradation test, Bioaccumulation test & Bioconcentration test, Partition coefficient measurement and Ecotoxicological effect test as per chemical substances control law. We can perform various tests in compliance with the requirements under the Agricultural Chemicals Regulation Act to obtain basic and scientific knowledge about a candidate agrochemical compound for its registration. Various types of toxicity tests can be performed at our partner laboratory, to meet the various customer’s needs.

Services Range Description
Biodegradation test This is a test to find out biodegradability. Biodegradability is an indicator of persistence of the chemical in the environment. It is used under the Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of Their Manufacture, etc. in Japan and chemical substance-related laws and regulations in many other countries.
Partition coefficient (Log Po/w) measurement It is measured by Shake flask method and HPLC method. In Po/w test of compound in water and 1-octanol, proportion of solute concentration in water layer to concentration of solute in octanol layer is expressed.
Bioaccumulation test & Bioconcentration test This test is carried out to find out bio-accumulation of chemicals. Fish such as Carp is kept for 28 days in a water tank, where fixed concentration of chemical is maintained. By measuring concentration of chemical in vivo, bio-concentration factor (BCF) is determined.
Aquatic Ecotoxicity studies Aquatic ecotoxicity studies assess the impacts of a chemical substance on the ecosystem. In Japan, such studies were required mostly for agrochemicals which are intentionally released into the ecosystem. However, the 2003 revision of the Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of Their Manufacture, etc. requires that persistent industrial chemical substances made or imported in over 10 tons undergo these biodegradability studies.
28 days repeated dose toxicity test Under this test, the test substance is administered every day repeatedly for certain periods to test animals, monitor any functional or morphological changes, and clarify its toxicity of the test substance. (Mostly performed by our partner laboratory.)
Chromosomal disorder test/Neurovirulence test This test uses cultured cells to check for any property of the test substance that may cause chromosomal disorder. (Mostly performed by our partner laboratory.)
Reverse mutation test (mutagenicity test/Ames test) This test uses bacteria to check for any property of the test substance that may cause mutation. (Mostly performed by our partner laboratory.)
Other toxicity studies Our partner laboratory can meet various toxicity test requirements including acute toxicity, irritation, and immune toxicity.
